QMOTIONS AND CODEMASTERS JOIN FORCES TO BATTLE OBESITY WITH ACTIVE GAME TECHNOLOGIES
RIVERSIDE, CA â JULY 21, 2006 â Qmotions, the company behind the popular and award-winning Qmotions-Golf⢠and Qmotions-Baseball⢠active game controllers, and Codemasters, the UK-based developer and publisher of world class interactive entertainment, have teamed up to fight obesity â with videogames. Through the partnership, Qmotions will launch the professional edition of their latest active videogame controller, Qmotions-FunFitnessâ¢, a device that easily converts exercise bikes into truly interactive videogame machines, bundled with Codemastersâ popular âTOCA Race Driver⢠3â racing simulation game.
Qmotions-FunFitness is a hybrid device that works with existing recumbent exercise bikes to spice up a ho-hum workout through videogames. Compatible with current videogame platforms, the device translates pedal speed into on-screen vehicle action in most racing games, while users control direction with a complementary controller.
âWe believe there should be more to gaming than a couch and a controller, and more to fitness than a bike and some headphones,â said Amro Albanna, founder and CEO, Qmotions, Inc. âWe want to encourage people â especially those who may not work out consistently â to embrace an active lifestyle. We are confident that the pairing of âTOCA Race Driver 3â with Qmotions-FunFitness will bring together enjoyable fitness and great gaming in a compelling way. â
Released in February 2006, âTOCA Race Driver 3â will offer users of Qmotions-FunFitness more than 120 championships across 35 different motor sport disciplines, in 21 different cars that range from British GT, V8 Supercars, Formula 3 and the legendary Williams Grand Prix cars from the past three decades to race their way to victory and a healthy lifestyle. âTOCA Race Driver 3â feels more realistic than ever, letting players feel tires screeching along gravel roads, maintain their race car throughout the course with engine tune-ups, and experience real-world engine inertia.
âItâs great to see companies like Qmotions leading the charge in active videogame technologies,â said Peter Chan, business development manager, Codemasters. ââTOCA Race Driver 3â and Qmotions-FunFitness is a great pairing â the faster your race, the fitter you become. Weâre excited to be partnering with Qmotions in this innovative step for both videogames and fitness.â
Qmotions-FunFitness will be available for purchase for under $100 at most major online and retailers.
