Fun With Statistics
Isn't it amazing how Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all claim to have dominated the holiday season? It really is true that you can find/manipulate statistics to show anything you want. And it doesn't take a master's degree in epidemiology to see it. Read the two press releases I posted today and you'll see what I'm talking about.
I realize that this is not a real market survey, but in NYC it was pretty clear who the winner was. I didn't hear a single person even mention Xbox 360. I heard a lot of people say they stood on line to get a PS3 just so they could turn around and sell it on Ebay. Needless to say, there was daily buzz about the Wii. Everyone wants a Wii. Matt, can you get me a wii? Wow this thing is really cool - I want one.
Of course, my friends, family, and family friends in NYC aren't really a very good sample of the entire country.
I'm looking forward to hearing more stories about who won the holiday season.
