Nintendo News: Pokemon Hotter Than Ever

One of the video game industry's most celebrated franchises is officially
hotter than ever. Within just five days of availability, more than 1 million
copies of Pokemon(R) Diamond and Pokemon Pearl for the portable Nintendo DS(TM)
have sold in the United States since Sunday's launch; a faster rate than any
previous Pokemon games since the franchise's U.S. introduction, almost a decade
ago.

To date, more than 155 million copies of Pokemon games have sold worldwide.
Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl are poised to become two of thetop-selling
games of 2007 in the United States. More than one half million people
pre-ordered the games before launch. Additionally, thousands of people
attended the kickoff launch event in New York, and demand for the games
continues to be off the charts. These latest versions of Pokemon games were
introduced in Japan on Sept. 28, 2006, and have already been purchased by more
than 5 million video gamers there.

The two games include a number of features that make them particularly
attractive to gamers, including:
* More than 100 new Pokemon.
* A 3-D look that makes Pokemon jump off the screen.
* Worldwide wireless battling and trading using Nintendo(R) Wi-Fi
Connection.
* Voice chat functions that let players talk wirelessly with their
friends.

Later this year, these two titles will also help expand the Pokemon universe
for the first time to Wii(TM), Nintendo's new home video game system. Diamond
and Pearl owners will be able to use their DS hardware units as controllers for
Pokemon Battle Revolution (launching June 25), the first Pokemon game available
for Wii. Players also will be able to export characters to the Wii game.

>
> Forecasts Revised Upwards for 2006/2007 Current Operating Income and Net Cash
> Position, as Well as for 2007/2008 Sales
>
> PARIS, April 26, 2007 – Today, Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game
> publishers, reported its sales for the fourth fiscal quarter ended March 31,
> 2007.
>
> Sales
>
> Sales for the fourth quarter of 2006-07 came to €197 million ($252.16 million
> U.S.) up 37.4 percent, or 41.7 percent at constant exchange rates, compared
> with the €144 million ($184.32 million U.S.) recorded for the same period of
> 2005-06. Full-year sales for fiscal 2006-07 totaled €680 ($870.4 million
> U.S.) versus €547 million ($700.16 million U.S.) for fiscal 2005-06,
> representing an increase of 24.4 percent, or 27.2 percent at constant
> exchange rates.
> Fourth-quarter sales beat the €152 million ($194.56 million U.S.) minimum
> target Ubisoft projected in its third-quarter sales figures announcement by
> €45 million ($57.6 million U.S.). This superior performance was fueled by the
> following factors:
>
> Robust performances of two key games launched during the quarter :
> -Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter® 2 got off to an excellent
> start with 1 million units sold on the Xbox 360(TM) video game and
> entertainment system from Microsoft. Launched just one year after the first
> game, this success highlights the proven strength of the Tom Clancy's Ghost
> Recon® franchise.
> -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles® (TMNT(TM)) also turned in a good showing with
> more than 1.1 million units sold for its launch on eight platforms.
>
> Continued success of games launched in previous quarters, including:
> -Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Vegas (1.7 million units sold since the game was
> launched).
> -Wii games, particularly Rayman® and Red Steel(TM) which have sold more than
> 830,000 and 950,000 units respectively since their launch.
> -The Petz® series of games, which collectively sold 3.5 million units during
> the fiscal year.
>
> During the first three months of the calendar year, Ubisoft continued to grow
> faster than the sector and gained new market share:
> -Second independent publisher in Europe, with growth of 31 percent (compared
> with market growth of 15 percent) and market share of 8.6 percent versus 7.6
> percent in the first quarter of 2006. Ubisoft was ranked as the number one
> independent publisher on Wii(TM), the Nintendo DS(TM) and the Xbox 360(TM).
> -Third independent publisher in the United States, with growth of 41 percent
> (compared with market growth of 28 percent) and market share of 6.7 percent
> versus 6.1 percent in the first quarter of 2006. Ubisoft was ranked as the
> number one independent publisher on Wii(TM) and number two on the Nintendo
> DS(TM) and Xbox 360(TM).
>
> Full-year 2006-07 Forecasts for Current Operating Income and Net Cash
> Position
>
> Due to its strong sales performance, Ubisoft has revised its target for
> full-year current operating income to approximately 5.5 percent of sales,
> higher than the previous guidance of approximately 4 percent of sales. In
> addition, the Company expects to achieve a positive net cash position of
> approximately €50 million ($64 million U.S.) sharply up on the former
> objective of zero net debt.
>
> Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer of Ubisoft, stated: "Our fourth
> quarter performance was an excellent way to round off 2006-07, a year in
> which we exceeded all of our targets. We have not only confirmed the strong
> position of our key franchises Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rayman, and
> Rainbow Six but have also launched new brands in the form of Red Steel and
> Heroes of Might & Magic. Our investment in games for the Xbox360, Wii and
> Nintendo DS systems has paid off and we have successfully broken into the
> casual games segment with the Petz series of games (Catz, Dogz and Horsez).
> Finally, above and beyond the recognized quality of our internal development
> studios, this year has confirmed the increasingly important role of our
> Publishing and Third Party Development divisions.”
>
> Outlook for 2007-08
> Outlook for Full-Year 2007-08
>
> Ubisoft has raised its 2007-08 sales target to approximately €800 million
> ($1.024 billion U.S.) – compared with the previous forecast of between €750
> million ($960 million U.S.) and €766 million ($980.48 million U.S.) – in
> order to reflect the quality of its games line-up and the favorable outlook
> for the sector. Ubisoft is maintaining its previously-announced objective for
> current operating income before stock options to represent at least eight
> percent of sales.
>
> Based on the provisional games release schedule, the first half of 2007-08 is
> expected to account for a larger portion of full-year sales than in the past.
>
>
> Consequently, Ubisoft expects First-Quarter 2007-08 sales to be up 71 percent
> to approximately €120 million ($153.6 million U.S.) driven by:
>
> -The video game based on Sony Pictures Animation's feature-length CG animated
> film Surf's Up(TM).
> -Four new games for Wii(TM) and four for the Nintendo DS(TM).
> -Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Vegas on the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment
> system.
>
> Yves Guillemot concluded: "In 2007-08, Ubisoft will have the best line-up in
> its history with the launch of seven franchises including Brothers In Arms
> and Splinter Cell; six new brands, including Assassin's Creed, EndWar and
> Haze; and four licensed games, including Surf's Up, Lost and Naruto. We
> intend to reap the full benefits of the ramp-up of new generation consoles
> and grow, again this year, our presence in the casual market on Wii and
> Nintendo DS systems. Ubisoft should continue to win market share and
> significantly boost its profitability in 2007-08.”
>
> Significant Events of the Quarter
>
> Market share: During the first three months of the year, Ubisoft has been
> ranked 3rd independent publisher in the US with 6.7 percent market share
> (compared to 4th with 6.1 percent the previous year), 2nd in France with 8.5

> 10.3 percent market share (compared to 2nd and 8.6 percent) and 3rd in
> Germany with 7 percent market share (compared to 3rd and 6.1 percent).

Nintendo News: Nintendo Stays Number One

Nintendo once again claimed the top two spots among the best-selling new video
game systems in America in March, according to independent sales data gathered
by the NPD Group.

Despite widespread shortages for both systems, more than half a million buyers
snapped up the portable Nintendo DS(TM), and Wii(TM) was once again the
top-selling new home video game console.

With the first quarter of 2007 now completed, Wii has already notched over a
million systems sold in America this year, while the DS now stands just shy of
1.25 million for the same period. Wii remains the fastest-selling new console
in more than a decade, based on NPD sell-through information over the first
five months of availability. So far this year, Nintendo has sold more video
game systems than all other manufacturers combined.

"The message delivered by both Wii and Nintendo DS is the same one," says
Reggie Fils-Aime, president, Nintendo of America. "Innovation is compelling
both current gamers and new gamers to experience a new way to play. Nintendo
is bringing gaming back to the masses."

While shipments of Wii hardware are expected to grow this month due to
increased production, demand for the system remains at unprecedented levels.
And it's destined only to intensify with the just released Super Paper
Mario(TM) and the impending release of Mario Party(R) 8, which brings a new
experience to the classic mini-game series using the Wii controllers.

For Nintendo DS, the year's most anticipated software release so far this year
comes with the arrival of Pokemon(R) Diamond and Pokemon(R) Pearl arriving at
retail on Sunday.

Nintendo Advises Pokemon Fans: Pre-Orders Top 500, 000

Pre-orders for the upcoming Pokemon(R) Diamond and Pokemon(R) Pearl video games
for the portable Nintendo DS(TM) have topped one half million in the United
States, and Nintendo is advising fans to brace themselves for the next wave of
Poke-mania. Based on the huge pre-sales for Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl,
Nintendo expects them to be among the top-selling games for all of 2007.

With four days to go until they arrive, more than 533,000 pre-orders have been
taken for Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl. Already these games have more than
doubled the pre-sale numbers of Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen, which
launched in 2004. Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen went on to sell more
than 3.4 million combined in North America.

Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl have consistently ranked among the
top-selling video game products on Amazon.com, and there are still four days
until launch. Pokemon became a nationwide hit the instant it arrived in the
United States in 1998. Now a new wave of Pokemon excitement is on its way,
complete with more than 100 new Pokemon characters, the ability for players to
battle wirelessly on Nintendo(R) Wi-Fi Connection and voice-chat abilities,
which act like a cell phone but with connection among friends only.

The Official Nintendo Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Player's Guide also will be
available at retail on April 22.

Wii-kly Update: Three New Classic Games Announced for Wii Shop Channel

Three classic games from three classic systems. The only problem you'll have
this week is deciding which one to download first. For the best retro gaming
around, it's time to pay a visit to the popular Wii(TM) video game system's Wii
Shop Channel.

Three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new
games to the channel every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet
connection can redeem Wii Points(TM) to download the games. Wii Points can be
purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets.

This week's new games are:

Punch Out!!(R) Featuring Mr. Dream (NES(R), 1 player, 500 Wii Points): As young
boxer Little Mac, players have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to battle the big
guys of the World Video Boxing Association circuit. Take them on one by one,
starting with skinny Glass Joe. Battle up through King Hippo and all the way
to the WVBA Champion himself. Players use their best jabs, hooks and power
uppercuts to knock out opponents, but must pay attention to subtle changes in
their body position to dodge jaw-breaking blows. With great graphics, addictive
action and a touch of humor, this game will keep players entertained for hours.

Virtua Fighter(TM) 2 (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): Virtua
Fighter was the very first 3-D fighting game in the industry and introduced six
unique characters, each with their own martial arts style. In Virtua Fighter
2, the intrepid fighters return to the World Fighting Tournament. Players take
to the stage to see who will claim the championship title. Will it be Lau
Chan, Kage-Maru, Wolf Hawkfield, Jeffry McWild, Akira Yuki, Jacky Bryant, Sarah
Bryant or Pai Chan? The answer lies within. Players immerse themselves in this
technically challenging game and see if they have what it takes to be the
champion of the second World Fighting Tournament.

Bonk's Revenge (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points): The "hardheaded" hero
is back for more in the second installment of the Bonk series. Taking place in
the Monster Kingdom, Bonk the Caveman makes his way toward King Drool III.
Bonk's Revenge is a side-scrolling action game in which players Jump and "Bonk"
(head-butt) their enemies while they make their way to the goal at the end of
each stage. Double, even triple, attack power by eating the meat that appears
in a stage. There are eight different hidden bonus stages, and the Dinosaur
Train that appears after players defeat a boss will change depending on how
many Smileys they've collected. With new actions such as the Triangle Jump and
the ability to climb trees, as well as seven variety-packed stages, Bonk's
Revenge will keep players playing over and over.

NINTENDO APPLAUDS U.S. GOVERNMENT'S STRONG POSITION AGAINST PIRACY IN CHINA

Nintendo Urges: 'Progress Must Be Made'
REDMOND, Wash., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Nintendo of America Inc. today
announced its strong support of the U.S. Trade Representative seeking formal
consultations with China regarding its failure to meet World Trade Organization
obligations concerning intellectual property protection and enforcement in
China. As part of its uncompromising campaign against international piracy,
Nintendo continues to be an outspoken supporter of the U.S. government, given
that more than 7.7 million counterfeit video game products from more than 300
Chinese factories and retailers have been seized during the past four years.

Despite aggressive efforts for the past decade, China has built itself to be
the leading production site and exporter for counterfeit Nintendo video game
products, and has the largest domestic consumption. Despite the millions of
counterfeit Nintendo products seized from retailers and manufacturing plants in
China through the years, there has only been one criminal prosecution.
Numerous factories, where tens of thousands of counterfeit Nintendo products
were seized, escaped with only trivial fines or no penalty at all. And often
these production sites continue to operate after products are seized. In order
to avoid punishment, many counterfeiters are sophisticated and keep stock
levels below the criminal thresholds and avoid keeping sales records.

Each year Nintendo participates in the Special 301 process -- the annual
process by which the U.S. Trade Representative solicits views from the industry
and makes judgments about the adequacy of intellectual property laws and
enforcement in foreign countries. This year, Nintendo provided evidence to the
U.S. Trade Representative regarding piracy in China, Hong Kong, Brazil, Mexico
and Paraguay. The piracy not only affects Nintendo, but also more than 100
other companies who independently create, license, market and sell Nintendo
products. In 2006, the estimated loss due to piracy was $762 million.

"Nintendo will continue to work with the U.S. government while aggressively
pursuing counterfeit Nintendo products in China," says Jodi Daugherty, Nintendo
of America's senior director of anti-piracy. "We're pleased the U.S.
government is pushing China to comply with its trade commitments in an effort
to protect the lifeblood of the copyright and trademark industries."

The worldwide innovator in the creation of interactive entertainment, Nintendo
Co., Ltd., of Kyoto, Japan, manufactures and markets hardware and software for
its Wii(TM), Nintendo DS(TM), Game Boy(R) Advance and Nintendo GameCube(TM)
systems. Since 1983, Nintendo has sold nearly 2.2 billion video games and more
than 387 million hardware units globally, and has created industry icons like
Mario(TM), Donkey Kong(R), Metroid(R), Zelda(TM) and Pokemon(R). A wholly
owned subsidiary, Nintendo of America Inc., based in Redmond, Wash., serves as
headquarters for Nintendo's operations in the Western Hemisphere. For more
