Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl are poised to become two of thetop-selling
games of 2007 in the United States. More than one half million people

than 5 million video gamers there.

The two games include a number of features that make them particularly
attractive to gamers, including:

* A 3-D look that makes Pokemon jump off the screen.
* Worldwide wireless battling and trading using Nintendo(R) Wi-Fi
* Voice chat functions that let players talk wirelessly with their

Later this year, these two titles will also help expand the Pokemon universe
for the first time to Wii(TM), Nintendo's new home video game system. Diamond
and Pearl owners will be able to use their DS hardware units as controllers for
Pokemon Battle Revolution (launching June 25), the first Pokemon game available
for Wii. Players also will be able to export characters to the Wii game.

> Outstripping Targets
> Full Year Sales Up 24.4 Percent to €680 Million ($870.4 million U.S.)
> Forecasts Revised Upwards for 2006/2007 Current Operating Income and Net Cash
> Position, as Well as for 2007/2008 Sales
> PARIS, April 26, 2007 – Today, Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game
> publishers, reported its sales for the fourth fiscal quarter ended March 31,
> 2007.
> Sales
> Sales for the fourth quarter of 2006-07 came to €197 million ($252.16 million
> U.S.) up 37.4 percent, or 41.7 percent at constant exchange rates, compared
> with the €144 million ($184.32 million U.S.) recorded for the same period of
> 2005-06. Full-year sales for fiscal 2006-07 totaled €680 ($870.4 million
> U.S.) versus €547 million ($700.16 million U.S.) for fiscal 2005-06,
> representing an increase of 24.4 percent, or 27.2 percent at constant
> exchange rates.
> Fourth-quarter sales beat the €152 million ($194.56 million U.S.) minimum
> target Ubisoft projected in its third-quarter sales figures announcement by
> €45 million ($57.6 million U.S.). This superior performance was fueled by the
> following factors:
> Robust performances of two key games launched during the quarter :
> -Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter® 2 got off to an excellent
> start with 1 million units sold on the Xbox 360(TM) video game and
> entertainment system from Microsoft. Launched just one year after the first
> game, this success highlights the proven strength of the Tom Clancy's Ghost
> Recon® franchise.
> -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles® (TMNT(TM)) also turned in a good showing with
> more than 1.1 million units sold for its launch on eight platforms.
> Continued success of games launched in previous quarters, including:
> -Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Vegas (1.7 million units sold since the game was
> launched).
> -Wii games, particularly Rayman® and Red Steel(TM) which have sold more than
> 830,000 and 950,000 units respectively since their launch.
> -The Petz® series of games, which collectively sold 3.5 million units during
> the fiscal year.
> During the first three months of the calendar year, Ubisoft continued to grow
> faster than the sector and gained new market share:
> -Second independent publisher in Europe, with growth of 31 percent (compared
> with market growth of 15 percent) and market share of 8.6 percent versus 7.6
> percent in the first quarter of 2006. Ubisoft was ranked as the number one
> independent publisher on Wii(TM), the Nintendo DS(TM) and the Xbox 360(TM).
> -Third independent publisher in the United States, with growth of 41 percent
> (compared with market growth of 28 percent) and market share of 6.7 percent
> versus 6.1 percent in the first quarter of 2006. Ubisoft was ranked as the
> number one independent publisher on Wii(TM) and number two on the Nintendo
> DS(TM) and Xbox 360(TM).
> Full-year 2006-07 Forecasts for Current Operating Income and Net Cash
> Position
> Due to its strong sales performance, Ubisoft has revised its target for
> full-year current operating income to approximately 5.5 percent of sales,
> higher than the previous guidance of approximately 4 percent of sales. In
> addition, the Company expects to achieve a positive net cash position of
> approximately €50 million ($64 million U.S.) sharply up on the former
> objective of zero net debt.
> Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer of Ubisoft, stated: "Our fourth
> quarter performance was an excellent way to round off 2006-07, a year in
> which we exceeded all of our targets. We have not only confirmed the strong
> position of our key franchises Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rayman, and
> Rainbow Six but have also launched new brands in the form of Red Steel and
> Heroes of Might & Magic. Our investment in games for the Xbox360, Wii and
> Nintendo DS systems has paid off and we have successfully broken into the
> casual games segment with the Petz series of games (Catz, Dogz and Horsez).
> Finally, above and beyond the recognized quality of our internal development
> studios, this year has confirmed the increasingly important role of our
> Publishing and Third Party Development divisions.”
> Outlook for 2007-08
> Outlook for Full-Year 2007-08
> Ubisoft has raised its 2007-08 sales target to approximately €800 million
> ($1.024 billion U.S.) – compared with the previous forecast of between €750
> million ($960 million U.S.) and €766 million ($980.48 million U.S.) – in
> order to reflect the quality of its games line-up and the favorable outlook
> for the sector. Ubisoft is maintaining its previously-announced objective for
> current operating income before stock options to represent at least eight
> percent of sales.
> Based on the provisional games release schedule, the first half of 2007-08 is
> expected to account for a larger portion of full-year sales than in the past.
> Consequently, Ubisoft expects First-Quarter 2007-08 sales to be up 71 percent
> to approximately €120 million ($153.6 million U.S.) driven by:
> -The video game based on Sony Pictures Animation's feature-length CG animated
> film Surf's Up(TM).
> -Four new games for Wii(TM) and four for the Nintendo DS(TM).
> -Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Vegas on the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment
> system.
> Yves Guillemot concluded: "In 2007-08, Ubisoft will have the best line-up in
> its history with the launch of seven franchises including Brothers In Arms
> and Splinter Cell; six new brands, including Assassin's Creed, EndWar and
> Haze; and four licensed games, including Surf's Up, Lost and Naruto. We
> intend to reap the full benefits of the ramp-up of new generation consoles
> and grow, again this year, our presence in the casual market on Wii and
> Nintendo DS systems. Ubisoft should continue to win market share and
> significantly boost its profitability in 2007-08.”
> Significant Events of the Quarter
> Market share: During the first three months of the year, Ubisoft has been
> ranked 3rd independent publisher in the US with 6.7 percent market share
> (compared to 4th with 6.1 percent the previous year), 2nd in France with 8.5
> percent market share (compared to 2nd and 8.2 percent), 2nd in the UK with
> 10.3 percent market share (compared to 2nd and 8.6 percent) and 3rd in
> Germany with 7 percent market share (compared to 3rd and 6.1 percent).
> Acquisition of Anno® (April 11, 2007): With five million units sold to date,
> Anno® is one of the most successful strategy games and a best-seller on the
> German market. This acquisition will strengthen Ubisoft's leading position in
> the strategy segment, Germany's most important segment and consolidate its
> number 2 position in this country.
> New expansion plan in Quebec: Objective of creating 1,000 additional jobs by
> 2013 and opening a studio specialized in the creation of digital cinema
> content.
> Conversion of 2008 warrants (BSAR): Ubisoft increased its capital by €50
> million ($64 million U.S.) following the conversion into shares of 92 percent
> of its 2008 warrants.

Nintendo News: Nintendo Stays Number One

Nintendo once again claimed the top two spots among the best-selling new video
game systems in America in March, according to independent sales data gathered
by the NPD Group.

Despite widespread shortages for both systems, more than half a million buyers
snapped up the portable Nintendo DS(TM), and Wii(TM) was once again the
top-selling new home video game console.

With the first quarter of 2007 now completed, Wii has already notched over a
million systems sold in America this year, while the DS now stands just shy of
1.25 million for the same period. Wii remains the fastest-selling new console
in more than a decade, based on NPD sell-through information over the first
five months of availability. So far this year, Nintendo has sold more video
game systems than all other manufacturers combined.

"The message delivered by both Wii and Nintendo DS is the same one," says
Reggie Fils-Aime, president, Nintendo of America. "Innovation is compelling
both current gamers and new gamers to experience a new way to play. Nintendo
is bringing gaming back to the masses."

While shipments of Wii hardware are expected to grow this month due to
increased production, demand for the system remains at unprecedented levels.
And it's destined only to intensify with the just released Super Paper
Mario(TM) and the impending release of Mario Party(R) 8, which brings a new
experience to the classic mini-game series using the Wii controllers.

For Nintendo DS, the year's most anticipated software release so far this year
comes with the arrival of Pokemon(R) Diamond and Pokemon(R) Pearl arriving at
retail on Sunday.

> * Fireball. Launches an explosive sphere of flame that blasts and
> burns up to 5 enemies
> * Burning Hands. All squad members receive a fire attack bonus and a

> enough to be in the scorched area.
> Evocation Ice. Second tier ice stance.
> * Freeze. Freeze the ground and damage up to 10 nearby enemies.
> * Glacier. Heavy ice attack that does severe damage to one opponent.

> powerful, but slows movement speed to walking.
> * Volt. Lightning attack that shocks up to 3 enemies.
> * Electric Plasma. Increase lightning resistance at the cost of fire
> resistance for all squad members.
> * Lightning Blast. Devastate enemies with a massive discharge of
> lightning that damages up to 6.
> * Thunder Frenzy. A fury of lightning that shocks and burns up to 12
> over time.
> Elemental Lord. This stance features skills from each element as well as a
> skill that combines all three for one awesome attack.
> * Hell Breath. Jets of fire shoot from both hands, incinerating up to
> 6 opponents.
> * Glacier. Heavy ice attack that does severe damage to one opponent.
> * Chain Lightning. Unleashes a series of lightning bolts that leap
> from one opponent to another, damaging up to 6.
> * Elemental Strife. Combines all three elements to burn, freeze, and

Nintendo Advises Pokemon Fans: Pre-Orders Top 500, 000

Pre-orders for the upcoming Pokemon(R) Diamond and Pokemon(R) Pearl video games
for the portable Nintendo DS(TM) have topped one half million in the United
States, and Nintendo is advising fans to brace themselves for the next wave of
Poke-mania. Based on the huge pre-sales for Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl,
Nintendo expects them to be among the top-selling games for all of 2007.

With four days to go until they arrive, more than 533,000 pre-orders have been
taken for Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl. Already these games have more than
doubled the pre-sale numbers of Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen, which
launched in 2004. Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen went on to sell more
than 3.4 million combined in North America.

Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl have consistently ranked among the
top-selling video game products on Amazon.com, and there are still four days
until launch. Pokemon became a nationwide hit the instant it arrived in the
United States in 1998. Now a new wave of Pokemon excitement is on its way,
complete with more than 100 new Pokemon characters, the ability for players to
battle wirelessly on Nintendo(R) Wi-Fi Connection and voice-chat abilities,
which act like a cell phone but with connection among friends only.

The Official Nintendo Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Player's Guide also will be
available at retail on April 22.

around, it's time to pay a visit to the popular Wii(TM) video game system's Wii
Shop Channel.

Three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new
games to the channel every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet
connection can redeem Wii Points(TM) to download the games. Wii Points can be
purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets.

This week's new games are:

Punch Out!!(R) Featuring Mr. Dream (NES(R), 1 player, 500 Wii Points): As young
boxer Little Mac, players have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to battle the big
guys of the World Video Boxing Association circuit. Take them on one by one,
starting with skinny Glass Joe. Battle up through King Hippo and all the way
to the WVBA Champion himself. Players use their best jabs, hooks and power
uppercuts to knock out opponents, but must pay attention to subtle changes in
their body position to dodge jaw-breaking blows. With great graphics, addictive
action and a touch of humor, this game will keep players entertained for hours.

Virtua Fighter(TM) 2 (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): Virtua
Fighter was the very first 3-D fighting game in the industry and introduced six
unique characters, each with their own martial arts style. In Virtua Fighter
2, the intrepid fighters return to the World Fighting Tournament. Players take
to the stage to see who will claim the championship title. Will it be Lau
Chan, Kage-Maru, Wolf Hawkfield, Jeffry McWild, Akira Yuki, Jacky Bryant, Sarah
Bryant or Pai Chan? The answer lies within. Players immerse themselves in this
technically challenging game and see if they have what it takes to be the
champion of the second World Fighting Tournament.

Bonk's Revenge (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points): The "hardheaded" hero
is back for more in the second installment of the Bonk series. Taking place in
the Monster Kingdom, Bonk the Caveman makes his way toward King Drool III.
Bonk's Revenge is a side-scrolling action game in which players Jump and "Bonk"
(head-butt) their enemies while they make their way to the goal at the end of
each stage. Double, even triple, attack power by eating the meat that appears
in a stage. There are eight different hidden bonus stages, and the Dinosaur
Train that appears after players defeat a boss will change depending on how
many Smileys they've collected. With new actions such as the Triangle Jump and
the ability to climb trees, as well as seven variety-packed stages, Bonk's
Revenge will keep players playing over and over.

Nintendo Urges: 'Progress Must Be Made'
REDMOND, Wash., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Nintendo of America Inc. today
announced its strong support of the U.S. Trade Representative seeking formal
consultations with China regarding its failure to meet World Trade Organization
obligations concerning intellectual property protection and enforcement in
China. As part of its uncompromising campaign against international piracy,
Nintendo continues to be an outspoken supporter of the U.S. government, given
that more than 7.7 million counterfeit video game products from more than 300
Chinese factories and retailers have been seized during the past four years.

Despite aggressive efforts for the past decade, China has built itself to be
the leading production site and exporter for counterfeit Nintendo video game
products, and has the largest domestic consumption. Despite the millions of
counterfeit Nintendo products seized from retailers and manufacturing plants in
China through the years, there has only been one criminal prosecution.
Numerous factories, where tens of thousands of counterfeit Nintendo products
were seized, escaped with only trivial fines or no penalty at all. And often
these production sites continue to operate after products are seized. In order
to avoid punishment, many counterfeiters are sophisticated and keep stock
levels below the criminal thresholds and avoid keeping sales records.

Each year Nintendo participates in the Special 301 process -- the annual
process by which the U.S. Trade Representative solicits views from the industry
and makes judgments about the adequacy of intellectual property laws and
enforcement in foreign countries. This year, Nintendo provided evidence to the
U.S. Trade Representative regarding piracy in China, Hong Kong, Brazil, Mexico
and Paraguay. The piracy not only affects Nintendo, but also more than 100
other companies who independently create, license, market and sell Nintendo
products. In 2006, the estimated loss due to piracy was $762 million.

"Nintendo will continue to work with the U.S. government while aggressively
pursuing counterfeit Nintendo products in China," says Jodi Daugherty, Nintendo
of America's senior director of anti-piracy. "We're pleased the U.S.
government is pushing China to comply with its trade commitments in an effort
to protect the lifeblood of the copyright and trademark industries."

The worldwide innovator in the creation of interactive entertainment, Nintendo
Co., Ltd., of Kyoto, Japan, manufactures and markets hardware and software for
its Wii(TM), Nintendo DS(TM), Game Boy(R) Advance and Nintendo GameCube(TM)
systems. Since 1983, Nintendo has sold nearly 2.2 billion video games and more
than 387 million hardware units globally, and has created industry icons like
Mario(TM), Donkey Kong(R), Metroid(R), Zelda(TM) and Pokemon(R). A wholly
owned subsidiary, Nintendo of America Inc., based in Redmond, Wash., serves as
headquarters for Nintendo's operations in the Western Hemisphere. For more

Nintendo's First Mario Game for Wii Leaves a Paper Trail of Excitement

Super Paper Mario Flips Between 2-D and 3-D Perspectives REDMOND, Wash.,
April 9 /PRNewswire/ --
Today's launch of Super Paper Mario(TM) for Nintendo's red-hot Wii(TM) system
transports players into another dimension. Like a story ripped from the pages
of a paperback novel, Mario has the ability to switch between a 2-D and 3-D
perspective. With the motion-sensitive and pointing abilities of the Wii
Remote(TM), this first Mario(TM) game for Wii delivers the goods.

At the start of the story, a mysterious villain kidnaps Princess Peach and
Bowser, and forces the unlikely couple to get married without any paperwork.
Mario, always the hero, sets out to save the day before a rift of dark energy
tears the universe apart. "This is one of the most remarkable Mario
adventures you've ever seen," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's
senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Millions of
Wii owners will be happy, because this game appeals to everyone by providing a
fresh perspective on gaming." Players solve puzzles, perform new actions,
learn fresh abilities and beat bosses using the innovative and action-sensitive
remote. Players can even navigate through parts of the game as Peach, and of
course, Bowser, whose devastating fiery breath burns like lemon juice on a
paper cut.

Super Paper Mario, Rated E for Everyone, launches today. For more information

Wii-kly Update: Three New Classic Games Announced for Wii Shop Channel

Do you have an itch to blast bug-shaped space fighters? Have you ever wondered
whether Dr. Bomb was a medical doctor or a Ph.D.? Do you resolve all your
disputes with a heated round of Rock, Paper, Scissors? If you answered yes to
any of these questions, you'll want to pay a visit to the popular Wii(TM) video
game system's Wii Shop Channel.
Galaga(TM) (NES(R), 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points): Players control their
fighters, with their unique ability to combine with other fighters and shoot
down the invading aliens. Aliens attack in formations using a variety of
attack patterns. Rescue a captured fighter to combine with it, forming a Dual
Fighter with twice the firepower. Earn Perfect Bonuses more easily by using a
Dual Fighter on the Challenging Stages. Galaga was released in 1981 and became
an instant classic with its innovative fighter-combination system and varied
enemy attack patterns.
BRAVOMAN(TM) (Turbografx16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points): The village of Nitta has
been invaded by the army of Dr. Bomb, an evil scientist who is plotting to take
over the world. Facing this crisis is Bravoman, who received his powers from
Alpha Man to stand up against Dr. Bomb in the name of justice. The village of
Nitta consists of 22 stages -- action stages that take place on the ground and
shooting stages that take place underwater. Action stages use a unique control
system in which the height of a jump and the distance of an attack changes
depending on how long players hold down the button. Players collect the Luck
Symbols that appear when they defeat enemies and give them to Lottery Man to
get recovery and power-up items. Stop Dr. Bomb and bring peace to the village
of Nitta and the rest of the world.
Alex Kidd(TM) in the Enchanted Castle (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii
Points): When King Thor was kidnapped, his son, Alex Kidd, held out hope that
his father would return to their kingdom on Planet Aries. Finally, it was
revealed that he was being held captive on Planet Paperock. As Alex, players
race to his rescue through 11 levels, battling enemies and avoiding obstacles
while winning coins that will buy special items and vehicles. At the end of
each level, players encounter a boss and enter into a match of "Rock, Paper,
Scissors." Throwing the right symbols puts players ever closer to bringing
King Thor home; throwing the wrong symbols squashes them beneath a heavy

Grand Theft Auto IV To Turn Manhattan Into Wasteland

The trailer was released for Grand Theft Auto IV yesterday. Besides making the game look like a whole lot of fun, it has sparked quite a controversy. Quite a silly controversy might I add. An immature, mind numbing controversy. In a story as old as time itself, some old men are blaming something that they can't understand or control for issues (such as crime, drugs, and poverty) that they can control but fail to do so.

I should start off by saying that I am qualified to write about this. I have appeared on television dozens of times to discuss the effects of video games on violence (and vice-versa). I have written extensively on how video games affect our society's psyche. I steadfastly believe that there are issues in our society that are far greater than video games, but video games are an easy target when someone is looking for a scapegoat. There has never been a scientifically viable study that indicates that video games cause violence.

Games don't kill people, people kill people. If a child is raised properly, then he or she can learn the difference between right and wrong even in they play video games. It is a parent's duty to raise their child properly and instill a firm sense of ethics. Walling off your child from video games will not make up for a lack of parenting skills.

I'm also a New Yorker. I love my city. I would never do anything to harm it. We're fourth generation New Yorkers and I was raised to respect my city. But facts are facts. The city is filthy. Many areas are not safe. People get shot to death. People get mugged. Drugs are rampant. Children are raised in poverty.

In a statement, the mayor Michael Bloomberg said, “The mayor does not support any videogame where you earn points for injuring or killing police officers”.

Guess what, Mr. Mayor? Video games don't need your support. I know that you are rich and powerful and think that you're the king of the city (and maybe someday the world), but the video game industry is doing rather well despite lacking your endorsement.

New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly went on to comment, “It’s despicable to glamorise violence in games like these, regardless of how far-fetched the setting may be”.

And do you want to know what I think of you, Commissioner Kelly? I think that maybe you should stop your men from shooting unarmed minorities 41 times. Maybe you should focus your attention on why your men have to shoot and kill a man on the night of his wedding. Maybe you could ask your men to stop dragging shackled prisoners down flights of stairs. Maybe you should train your men to be courteous and responsive and to stop acting like thugs. (although, as an aside I did have a positive interaction with the NYPD a few months ago). Maybe, just maybe, you should focus on the real life issues faced by your department and not try to sidetrack everyone by blaming a game.

In another angle, maybe the mayor is only angry because Rockstar Games didn't buy any permits and grease city employee's palms in order to make the game. NYC makes millions every year by charging for film and TV permits. I haven't heard the mayor complain very much about NYC violence on TV or in the movies, have you? I wonder why video games are a threat to the very fabric of NYC life, but people getting murdered on CSI: NY is just fine. Car jacking and drug dealing is good in the movies and on TV, but the minute they're in a video game that's a threat to society.

Grow up, Mr. Bloomberg and Commissioner Kelly. Pay attention to the problems that are actually taking place in NYC every day. Focus on real issues, not on make believe issues that get you press coverage.

Speaking of press coverage, your childish statements about GTA IV are probably already increasing sales.
