Wii-kly Update

Enjoying a nice hot dog, tending to your flowers—not exactly the hallmarks of an adventurous lifestyle, right? Think again. This week’s additions to the Wii™ Shop Channel feature action and excitement in unlikely settings, from super-charged eating contests to a greenhouse that’s been invaded by a certain world-famous ape. We’ve also thrown in a classic scrolling actioner for those who prefer a more familiar brand of fist-flying combat. For WiiWare™ lovers and Virtual Console™ devotees alike, it’s a great week to get some unexpected kicks.

Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

WiiWare

Major League Eating: The Game™ (Mastiff, 1-2 players, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older—Crude Humor, 1,000 Wii Points): The ultimate chomp-off is about to begin. Grab your Wii Remote™ controller and dig into 12 different foods as you compete against the greatest major-league eaters in the world. This isn’t just a race to stuff your face—you’ll need strategy to master a smorgasbord of digestive attacks, defenses and counters. These include the Mega Burp, Gas Attack, Antacid and more. And don’t forget to keep an eye on your Barf-O-Meter, because if the food hits the plate twice, you’re out. Unlock more than 10 characters in single-player career mode, go gut-to-gut against your friends in versus mode, or compete online using Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection. Online play supports friend codes, random matchmaking and leader boards.

Virtual Console

Donkey Kong™ 3 (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Based on the third game in the enormously popular arcade series, Donkey Kong 3 introduces an exterminator named Stanley as he desperately tries to protect the flowers in his greenhouse from Donkey Kong. Armed only with a can of bug spray, Stanley must force Donkey Kong higher and higher into the greenhouse rafters until Donkey Kong is off the screen and the next stage is reached. Not surprisingly, Donkey Kong isn’t going to move without a fight, so he sends wave after wave of bugs, bees and other creatures toward Stanley. Not only must Stanley repel the insects in order to save the flowers, but he’ll also have to keep an eye out for projectiles thrown by Donkey Kong himself. If Stanley is good enough, he’ll be able to grab a can of more powerful bug spray and really get Donkey Kong moving. It all adds up to frantic fun that anyone can enjoy.

NINJA COMMANDO (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older—Mild Language, Fantasy Violence, 900 Wii Points): NINJA COMMANDO is a vertically scrolling action game released by ADK in 1992. Players choose from among three ninjas—Joe, descended from the Koga ninja; Rayar, a woman who has learned the ways of the Iga ninja; and Ryu, descendant of the famous ninja Fuma Kotaro—as they pursue the merchant of death known as Spider, who plans to use a time machine to bring havoc to the world. The battle spans seven time periods, including the Stone Age, the Egyptian era and the Japanese Civil War era. Each hero features a variety of attack options in addition to their own normal attacks, including a deadly attack that inflicts damage upon all enemies on the screen, special ninja-arts attacks performed by inputting specific commands, and a powerful attack unleashed by taking on the “shape of the beast” when three scrolls have been collected. The game also supports two-player cooperative play, so you’re welcome to bring a friend and enjoy taking on the evil Spider together.

Wii-kly Update

Everybody loves a classic battle between good and evil. With the latest additions to the Wii™ Shop Channel, your greatest challenge will be choosing where to wipe out the bad guys—in deep space, on mean city streets or in a monster-ridden fantasy world. Whatever the venue, be ready for outrageous enemies and memorable missions you’ll relish from beginning to end.

Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

WiiWare™

Gyrostarr™ (High Voltage Software, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone—Mild Fantasy Violence, 700 Wii Points): Gyrostarr challenges you and up to three additional players to pilot your ships through a series of twisting, turning technoplasma tracks while battling a variety of deadly alien foes at ever-increasing speeds. While fighting and maneuvering, you must collect enough energy to activate the ancient warpgate at the end of each track. Succeed, and you can journey to the next, even deadlier track. Fail, and the gate will slam shut, destroying your ship. Enhance your ship with weapon pickups, coordinate attacks with your friends to fire powerful combined blasts and use your grapple to snag energy and pickups in the midst of combat. Control your ship with the Wii Remote™ controller, Nunchuk™ controller or Classic Controller™, or use the “paired” control system that allows two players to use a connected Wii Remote and Nunchuk or Classic Controller at the same time. Offering 50 levels of intense action, powerful pickups, high-speed bonus levels and mayhem for up to four players, Gyrostarr is a killer arcade challenge.

Virtual Console™

Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Sega Master System, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone—Comic Mischief, 500 Wii Points): In this platformer from the 1980s, you’re Alex Kidd, looking for your lost brother Egle. In order to find your brother, you’ll have to contend with the evil Janken the Great, who will send his henchmen and monsters at you to thwart your progress. One aspect of this adventure is that you’ll have to play the classic game of “rock, paper, scissors” against the henchmen in order to defeat them. With 16 different levels to conquer in order to save Egle, this classic is sure to test your skills and your wits at the same time.

BURNING FIGHT (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older—Mild Suggestive Themes, Violence, 900 Wii Points): Released in 1991 by SNK, BURNING FIGHT is a side-scrolling hand-to-hand-combat action game. In pursuit of Casterora, leader of a huge syndicate that has escaped from New York to Osaka, the protagonists are three detectives: Duke, Ryu and Billy. Each character fights using a combination of punches, kicks and jumps, plus his own particular special move, activated by simultaneously pressing the jump and attack buttons. These lethal techniques have enormous destructive force, but they also consume a great deal of energy. For this reason, players must use their special moves with skillful timing. Luckily for the detectives, new weapons and additional health can be found by breaking things like phone booths and street signs along the way. A boss, who must be defeated in order to continue the mission, awaits players at the end of each stage. You can also take on the gang with a friend, but beware—attacks by one player can damage the other, so keep an eye on where your partner is in the heat of the battle. End Casterora’s reign of terror once and for all.

POP CUTIE! STREET FASHION SIMULATION™ BRINGS STREET STYLE TO THE NINTENDO DS

Burlingame, CA -- June 16, 2008 -- KOEI, recognized worldwide as the premier brand of strategy and simulation games, announced today that the company is preparing to bring POP CUTIE! Street Fashion Simulation™ to North America this September 2008. The game will be available exclusively for the Nintendo DS.

"POP CUTIE! Street Fashion Simulation brings together an eclectic mix of Tokyo street style, cosplay (costume play), fashion design and trend hunting to create a game that's part retail management simulation and part style exploration," said Amos Ip, Senior Vice President for KOEI Corporation. "As the game's shop owner you'll compete against rival designers, hire models and staff, design new items, all in search of the ultimate fashion trend."

About POP CUTIE! Street Fashion Simulation
POP CUTIE! Street Fashion Simulation is a game where players manage the day-to-day happenings of their very own fashion boutique. They'll hire models and assistants, choose the look and music for their shop, run the cash register and even place magazine ads. Best of all, they'll take to the streets and meet different characters in search of up-and-coming trends. Players will then use this inspiration in their studios where they'll create new clothes, accessories and even hairstyles. However, other shop owners are also prowling the streets looking for the next big thing.

Players will start the game as an independent designer with a small shop at a flea market. As players progress, they'll move into larger boutiques. The competition against rival shop owners culminates in a 'Fashion Battle,' where a panel of judges will decide if a player's style has enough cute or enough cool to become all the rage.

By gathering 'images' from people on the street and combining them, players will create clothing lines ranging from the conventional to the most outrageous trends from the streets of Tokyo. A simple touch interface allows players to consider color and shape combinations on the bottom screen while reviewing the actual design on the upper screen. Using Nintendo DS Multi-Card Wireless Play, up to two friends can challenge each other in fabulous Fashion Battles.

Developed by KOEI Co., Ltd, POP CUTIE! Street Fashion Simulation is for 1 to 2 players. This game is not yet rated by the ESRB.

Richard "The Locust" LeFevre
Henderson, NV
Age: 63
Weight: 132

The Locust is known for a strong jaw, and stomach capacity that seems to
increase, not decrease, as a contest progresses. Previously considered
an outsider in the competitive eating community, LeFevre embraced the
formal eating circuit for the first time in 2002, participating in hot
dogs, all-you-can-eat buffet and chili. Since then his prowess and
reputation have grown. In /Major League Eating: The Game/, LeFevre
shines when confronted with Jalapeos or Spicy, but has difficulties
with Antacid.

*Records:*
Jalapeos: 247 in 8 minutes
Huevos Rancheros: 7.75 lbs in 10 minutes
SPAM: 6 lbs in 12 minutes
Chili: 1.5 Gallons in 10 minutes

Patrick "Deep Dish" Bertoletti
Chicago, IL
Age: 22
Weight: 190

Patrick Bertoletti is a gurgitating force of nature. He has beaten every
major eater, taking out two superstars at one chomp on October 9, 2007
with his victory over Takeru Kobayashi and Joey Chestnut in the Spike TV
televised Las Vegas chicken wing "Chowdown." Bertoletti considers
himself a sweet specialist but proven himself capable of claiming
victory regardless of food type. Some say the intimate knowledge of food
he carries as a recent culinary school graduate gives him an unfair
advantage. Others credit his habit of using the music of Irish punk band
Dropkick Murphys, channeled in via earphones, to maintain pace during
competitions. However, no one disputes his stature as true force of
nature in competitive eating and one of the greatest eaters of all time.
In /Major League Eating: The Game/, Bertoletti is strong in Pizza-eating
events and Mustard Gas, a dangerous gaseous cloud, but weak against
Invincible.

*Records:*
Grits: 21 lbs in 10 minutes
Waffles: 14.5 lbs in 10 minutes
Strawberry Shortcake: 15.25 lbs in 8 minutes
Ice Cream: 1.75 Gallons in 8 minutes

"El Toro" Jimenez
Las Vegas, NV
Age: 30
Weight: 187

El Toro has a big mouth, although it doesn't seem to serve him well in
competition. Fond of extravagant claims, personal attacks on other
eaters and all sorts of theatrics, he is usually at the bottom of the
pack at the end of any given contest. Other eaters see him as abrasive,
offensive, and void of talent. He does, however, contribute to the sport
by setting an example of what not do

*Records:*

Wii-kly Update: Two WiiWare Games and Two Virtual Console Games Added to Wii Shop Channel

This weeks Wii-kly Update pretty much covers the full spectrum.
Maybe youll want to blast away with an arsenal of old-school weapons. But
then again, three-day weekends are a good time to relax. So maybe youll
take a wild road trip or settle in for some table tennis. And if you
overdo it, we have a physician standing by.

Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m.
Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet
connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be
purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This weeks new
games are:

WiiWare

Dr. Mario Online Rx (Nintendo, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone,
1,000 Wii Points): The doctor is in! Mario takes a break from his
adventuring ways and once again dons his stethoscope for a new generation
of germ-battling mayhem. In addition to the classic mode of using vitamins
to exterminate viruses, youll find two battle modes and an online
multiplayer mode where you can hone your skills against players from
around the world. Feel like challenging a friend who doesnt have Dr.
Mario Online Rx? Then the WiiWare-exclusive Friend Battle Demo is just
what the doctor ordered. Or maybe youd like some help taking on
those nasty viruses? Try out Virus Buster, where four players can
simultaneously move capsules simply by pointing at them with a Wii Remote
controller. Any way you look at it, Dr. Mario Online Rx is a prescription
for fun that everyone can enjoy.

Family Table Tennis (Aksys Games, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone,
500 Wii Points): Its time for some good old family fun, and whats more
fun than table tennis? Just like a real family, choose your character from
a cast of four, which includes Daddy, Mommy, Sarah and Billy. There are
four table tennis-tastic stages where it doesnt matter if youre an
indoors or outdoors table-tennis player. Pick your poison from a
gymnasium, a forest park, a beach or even an amusement park. Choose from
Single or Versus mode, or select a minigame to play. In Versus mode, you
and a friend can play against each other to see who is the better
table-tennis player. And if Single and Versus modes arent enough, select
between three minigames, which include Target Table Tennis, Thrilling
Table Tennis and Matching Table Tennis. The appealing cell-shaded graphics
and endearing music, on top of the super-fun game play, will have you and
your family playing from morning till night. Get your paddles ready.

Virtual Console

City Connection (NES, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone
Comic Mischief, Tobacco Reference, 500 Wii Points): Based on the arcade
hit, a young man born in California sets out to tour famous sites and
cities around the world. As he drives the highways surrounding these
locations, the road is painted white as proof of his visit. Only once all
sections of the road have been painted will he move on to the next
location in his world tour. Not surprisingly, the local police will chase
the driver and do their best to stop him from completing his goal. In
addition, cats roam the highways and spikes lie in wait for unsuspecting
drivers. To combat these dangers, the drivers customized car can
jump, fire cans of oil and collect balloons to warp to a new stage. Its
the ultimate road trip.

Metal Slug (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen Blood, Violence,
900 Wii Points): Released in 1996 by SNK, Metal Slug is a side-scrolling
military-action game. Players control Marco and Tarma, both members of the
special-ops force Team Peregrine Falcon (commonly known as Team PF), and
battle their way through stage after stage of intense action. The goal is
to try to overthrow General Morden and win back the stolen weapon, the
Metal Slug. Players must blast through waves of enemies and machines
(while also jumping over any obstacles in the way) to advance through the
stages. Its not as hopeless as it might sound, thoughweapons such
as heavy machine guns, shotguns, rocket launchers and flamethrowers, as
well as the Metal Slug itself (which appears frequently in the game), will
make the battle easier. Take on General Morden with a friend to lighten
your load and ramp up the excitement even more.

NCsoft Covers New Ground in City of Heroes

/Newest expansion takes players to ancient city to save the present day/

* *

*AUSTIN, Texas, May 21, 2008*NCsoft^ Corporation, the worlds leading
developer and publisher of online computer games, today announced the
release of /City of Heroes/^ Issue 12: Midnight Hour. The newest free
expansion for current subscribers, Issue 12 brings to life a special
covert group from the games lore, highly-anticipated Villain Epic
Archetypes, more powerset options and character slots for players, plus
a whole new Greek- and Roman-inspired zone to explore!

/City of Heroes/ Issue 12, developed and published by NCsoft, brings the
Midnight Squad out of the lore and into the game. The Midnight Squad is
the clandestine organization of mystics, scholars and mages who hold a
secret that could bring the alien group, the Rikti, to its knees.
Players are encouraged to help the Midnight Squad uncover the secret
that could help save Paragon City^ and the Rogue Isles from further
alien assaults.

Part of this secret will be revealed in a new zone called Cimerora,
which uses the Ouroboros time travel system introduced in Issue 11. This
zone, inspired by ancient Greece and Rome, is only accessible by working
with the Midnight Squad. Once the player has access, both villains and
heroes must face deadly creatures and defeat an unexpected threat. As a
reward for their accomplishments in Cimerora, players can unlock special
Greek- and Roman-inspired armor and costumes.

Another key feature in Issue 12 is Villain Epic Archetypes. Now,
villains who reach level 50 unlock two brand new epic archetypes; Wolf
Spiders and Blood Widows. Wolf Spiders can specialize into Bane Spiders
or Crab Spiders, and Blood Widows can develop into Night Widows or
Fortunatas. Each specialty enjoys a unique set of wickedly powerful attacks.

Issue 12 also introduces Powerset Proliferation
, which
vastly increases the variety of villain and hero characters that players
can create. Some powersets, previously only available to hero
archetypes, are now available to designated villain archetypes, and vice
versa. To help accommodate all of these new character options, the
development team has opened additional character slots. All current
subscribers receive two new character slots for use on the server of
their choice. Other slots may be acquired as a part of the Veteran
Rewards
program, or for purchase. Details can be found on the /City of Heroes/
web site
.

With the introduction of Villain Epic Archetypes, new costume options
and Powerset Proliferation in Issue 12, we knew players would want to be
able to create new characters, said Matt Miller, lead designer.
Expanding the number of character slots in this way ensures that our
players can use all these new features. We think its a great solution
that adds value to the service.

To join the adventures of the most successful comic-book themed game on
the market, players can purchase the /City of Heroes/ Good Versus Evil
Edition game pack at retailers across North America or through digital
download at the PlayNC Store
.
The Good Versus Evil Edition includes the complete /City of Heroes/
and /City of Villains/^ games, as well as a set of exclusive bonus
items. Customers receive the first month of play free and both games can
be played for the single monthly subscription price of $14.99.

For more information about /City of Heroes/, go to
http://www.cityofheroes.com .
